It was picked on September 22 at 29hl/ha. I notice quite a deep colour compared to other vintages and perhaps just a little more turbidity. It is initially broody, a wine that does not want to get to know you. It begins to open with quite potent undergrowth scents intermixed with a pencil shavings or antique bureau. It is well balanced and seems to convey a little sinew, though it seems to fall short on the aftertaste when compared directly against the 1999 and 2002 Romanée-Conti. 6,286 bottles produced.
